About Four-Post Lifts

A 4 post car lift raises the vehicle on its tires on two runways, so there are no arms to set and no lift points to find. That makes a four-post lift the natural choice for parking a second car, oil and exhaust work, and wheel alignment. We sell four-post lifts from Direct Lift®, Forward Lift® and Rotary®, rated from 8,000 to 16,000 lb., and we can arrange delivery and installation.

Storage and Home Garage 4 Post Lifts

The Direct Lift Pro Park 8S, Pro Park 8 PLUS LONG and Pro Park 9 PLUS and the Forward Lift EFP8 and EFP9 are 8,000–9,000 lb. lifts for stacking two vehicles or working on your own cars. Compare them on our car storage lifts page.

4 Post Service Lifts

For shop service, the Forward Lift CR14 and the Rotary SM14 (closed front) and SMO14 (open front) are rated 14,000 lb. The Rotary models come in 182″ and 215″ (Extended) wheelbase versions and in Shockwave™ versions. See them side by side on our drive-on lifts page.

4 Post Alignment Lifts

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a 4 post lift need to be bolted down?

It depends on the model. Storage lifts like the Direct Lift Pro Park 8S come with a poly caster kit, so they can be moved around a garage without being bolted to the floor. Follow the installation manual for your specific lift.

How does a 4 post lift work?

A four-post lift raises the vehicle on its tires on two runways carried by four columns, so there are no lift arms to position. Add a rolling bridge jack to lift the wheels off the runways for brake, tire and suspension work.

How much ceiling height do I need for a 4 post lift?

Four-post lifts often need about 10 to 11 feet of ceiling, and some storage models fit lower. The Direct Lift Pro Park 8S is designed to stack two vehicles in garages with ceilings as low as 10 to 12 feet. Measure to the lowest obstruction and check the model’s specs.
