How does a wheel alignment machine work?
Cameras or sensors read targets or clamps on each wheel to measure camber, caster and toe, and the software guides each adjustment. The Rotary R1065 uses four sensors with two CCD cameras each; the R1075 and R1090 are 3D camera systems; the R5100HD is a 6-CCD truck aligner.
Do I need an alignment lift to do alignments?
Most shops align vehicles on an alignment rack with turn plates and slip plates, which keeps the vehicle level at a comfortable working height. The towerless Rotary R5100HD truck aligner can also work on the floor, a lift or a pit.
